FAQ

1. I chose "PayPal" as my payment method, but I was not redirected after submitting my order. Will my order be processed anyway?

Yes. There is no automatic forwarding to PayPal. Customers will receive a PayPal request from us as soon as the goods are ready for shipment.

2. How can I tell whether an item is available for immediate delivery or has to be reordered from the USA?

Under each product you can find an indicator of availability. If an item is listed as "In Stock", it is currently in our store and is available for immediate delivery. If an item is listed as "Still available", it will be reordered from our US distributors Diamond Comic Distributors, Lunar Distribution or Penguin Random House LLC. General information about the delivery time is not possible at the moment, but a minimum delivery time of two weeks is usual.

3. How do subscriptions work?

Black Dog Comics offers a subscription model based on traditional US Comic Shops with a discount system. Simply add the comic series you want to read to your cart using the "ABO" button, and we'll make sure you never miss a new issue of that series. There are no hidden costs, you only pay when the goods are picked up or shipped. You can cancel at any time. Subscriptions only help us to order the accurate amounts. And the best thing about it is the more subscriptions you have, the less you pay for each item. (You can see the exact discount levels on the website.)

4. Can I also subscribe to a Variant-Cover?

No! Only standard covers are distributed via subscriptions. Variant covers have higher prices and must be added to the shopping cart individually via the "BUY" button. Please tell us in the field "Wishes" if you want to have the Variant-Cover INSTEAD of the regular Subscription-Cover. 

5. Can I pick up my order in the store? 

Yes, if you specify the payment method when placing your order, we will list you as a store customer. Your orders will then be ready for pickup in the store.

6. I would like to know the status of my order. What can I do?

On your account you can view not only your current subscriptions and orders, but also which items are already in your shipping box or subscription box. By clicking on your subscriptions or orders, you can also find all the information available to us about the official release date. In addition, you will find daily updated information on the release dates of current articles on the pages of our distribution partners Diamond and Lunar. If an item has already been released but is not yet in your Abox box or shipping tray, this is almost always due to delays in shipping. You can always check the status of the weekly deliveries on our homepage. Finally, it can also happen that goods come damaged and we can not realize your order as planned. In these cases we will automatically take care of a replacement as soon as possible. It is important to note that if an ordered item can not be replaced, we will always contact you and usually offer you an alternative.

7. I have messages on my account about a "changed delivery date" and/or "reorder cancellations". What does this mean?

Items that have not arrived in the store by the official delivery date will be listed in your account under "Changed Delivery Date". If publishers or distributors inform us about a new delivery date, we will update this on our website. Items that have been officially cancelled by publishers or distributors, items that do not currently have a release date, and reordered items for which Diamond, Lunar, or Random House have confirmed that we will no longer receive them will be listed under "Reorder Cancelations".

8. Why can't I log in?

Your login is your customer number + the first two letters of your first and last name. For example: 4208 + John Locke = 4208jolo If you have no subscriptions or open orders, your account is empty and no data will be displayed. New customers always receive an email with all necessary account information. If logging in is not possible after receiving this email, it is possible that the website has not been updated yet. You can find the time of the last update on our main page at the bottom right.¨

9. When will my items be shipped if I have multiple subscriptions or open orders with different delivery times?

You can determine the delivery date of your items yourself. We ask all of our customers to set a general, monthly shipping date. Please choose if your orders should be shipped "at the beginning of the month", "in the middle of the month", "End of the month" or "With the previews catalog" . In addition, for orders with a different delivery status/date, you should always specify whether you want to wait for your full order, or if the already deliverable goods should be sent right away.

10. What does additional information like "fn" behind some articles mean?

Goods that do not reach us in the best condition will be graded by us and then offered at a reduced price. By looking at the descriptions behind the articles, you can see in what condition the goods are. VF means very fine (almost new, with minor flaws, FN = fine (generally in good condition), VG = very good (very clear signs of wear). G = good (heavily damaged and/or soiled, but no significant parts missing - only coupons or advertising pages, often considered last collectible condition), FR = fair (very heavy damage, rough amateur restorations, missing cover or page parts). P = poor (can't get any worse).

11. Do you also buy comics?

Depends. Is it from the US and at least 30 years old? Then you can send us an email with a detailed list or some photos. Please refrain from asking about books, newer comics or German language items.

12. What are the shipping rules for?

For our customers with subscriptions or regular orders we set up geme individual ones. Basically we send all accumulated articles once a month in one shipment to save our postage costs. However, it is also possible to send the items on a weekly, biweekly or triweekly basis. In addition, we also send out each item individually and immediately if required. Just contact us, so we can fulfill your shipping request.

13. What shipping costs should I expect for my comic delivery?

The standard postage for one-time orderers is 3,00 €. For Backing-Boards and Comic-Boxes we charge 3,00 € extra. One-time orderers do not receive any subscription discounts. Subscribers pay 1.55 € for a letter that is up to 500 grams and 2.70 € for a letter that is up to 1000 grams within Germany. Parcels are always sent insured and with tracking. Our shipping partners are DPD (up to 5.0 kg - 6.00 €, up to 10.0 kg -7.00 €, up to 20 kg - 8.00 €, up to 31.5 kg - 10.00 € ) and DHL (standard price of 8.- € up to a total of 31.5 kg).
